Our institute (Institute of Information Systems & Information Management) is acting in the following main areas: 1) Digital film and video archives 2) Automatic retrieval of film and video sequences 3) Automativ restoration of films 4) Video encoding and data exposure 5) Web information systems 6) Computer-supported training and education 7) Consulting and problem solving 8) Support in project applications and project organisation Reference projects: 1) Limelight/FRAME/Nephew Development and optimisation of an innovative system for digital film restoration. 2) Restoration of Austrian films "The Opera Ball", 1956; "Rafters on the River Mur", 1936; "City Tour of Graz", 1914 3) VICAR: Automatic Video Indexing and Retrieval Development of a system for the recognition of image content - and thus for the rapid retrieval of required sequences - in digital videos. 4) DFC: Digital Film Center Development of a video database comprising video sequences, annotations and copyright information. 5) PrOMInent/Diaspora Projects to promote the application of new microelectronic technologies and software methods in small and medium-sized companies. 6) Multimedia-Umbrella An informationh offensive for small and medium-sized companies covering multi-media 7) VES: Virtual European School Multimedia teaching and learning materials for teachers and pupils as an online resource on the Internet 8) Multimedia for education in higher technical colleges Development of multimedia teaching systems for higher technical colleges 9) INVAR: Innovative reorganisation of work Development of new training methods in the fields of EDP and telecommunications for companies 10) Cluster-Net EU project aimed at developing qualification strategies for employees in the automotive cluster 11) ONE 2 This project aims at establishing a rich offer of search and retrieval services for European libraries by integrating existing on-line public access catalogues into one common information framework. 12) MALVINE - Manuscripts and Letters via Integrated Networks in Europe MALVINE opens new and enhanced access to disparate modern manuscript holdings, kept and catalogued in European libraries, archives, documentation centers and museums.
