  in the field of thin films for photonic applications

Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble is the technical university of
Grenoble (France). Two laboratories of INPG are associated in a research on
thin films for photonic applications (wave guides for telecommunications,
integrated laser sources...).

LMGP (Laboratoire des Matériaux et du Génie Physique) activity is focused on
thin films deposition using several kinds of chemical deposition techniques
(OMCVD, Pyrosol, sol-gel) and on the physical/chemical characterization of
thin films. For several years, we have been involved in the deposition of
materials (SiO2, TiO2, Al2O3, Y2O3, ZrO2...) doped with rare earth compounds
(Er, Nd, Eu...) usable for photonic applications.

LEMO (Laboratoire d'Electromagnétisme, Microondes et Optoélectronique)
activity is focused on the modelization, fabrication and characterization of
integrated optics components on silicate glasses for application to optical
fiber communications and optoelectronic sensors. Our competence field
includes the study of fluorescence properties, life time measurement,
optical losses, optical amplification, laser capability...

The consortium LMGP/LEMO is looking for european collaboration in the field
of thin films for photonic applications.
