PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The EDUCIT project belongs to research and development of applications of
CIT (Computer Integrated Telephony) for education. Subject of research is an
educational environment allowing student to do automatic exercises and other
educational tasks by telephone independently of time and space, while
teacher will be able to access the environment both by telephone and by a
standard PC. The central part of the prescribed environment is audio interface.

OBJECTIVE
 to build and test a CIT system with audio interfaces for educational purposes
 different audio menu styles and audio input methods designed and tested

RESEARCH CRITERIA
 technological, educational and socio-economical generally in distance
education research, main emphasis at ordinary student's needs.
 additional research subject is integration of audio environment with
larger communication systems including email, fax etc.

Testing will produce information on feasibility of various educational
activities, different kinds of disciplines, a number of course types and
different levels of education for audio systems.

The EDUCIT project will be carried out as a Cooperative Research Action. The
two SMEs have been granted an Exploratory Award, with Kanki	International as
the coordinating proposer. A demonstration system has been set up in Spain
with CIT hardware and software specifically designated for the use of the 12
months of the Exploratory Award. The system is ready for trial use of any
potential partner. Research institutions are being selected, and suitable
SMEs in Spain, Finland and other European Union countries are looked for.
