Subject: Prix ARS ELECTRONICA 2000

With the Prix Ars Electronica, the worlds highest prized competition for
computer and multimedia art, the ORF in Upper Austria continues its commitment
and initiatives for promoting artistic, creative and scientific uses of
digital
media in the third millennium. Artists around the world are once again invited
to send their works to Linz to compete for the Golden Nica, Awards of
Distinction and Honorary Mentions.
The Prix Ars Electronica 2000 is announced internationally in the
categories of
.net, Interactive Art, Digital Music, Computer Animation/Visual Effects, and
throughout Austria with the competition cybergeneration -u19 freestyle
computing.
Works will be selected by five juries of international experts.
The total prize money is ATS 1,35 Mio./ EUR 98.110/ US$ 96.428.
The category Computer Animation is open to all forms of independent
productions
from areas of art, science, etc.; The category Visual Effects refers to
commercial high-end productions from the areas of film, advertising,
entertainment, etc..
The category .NET is open to all artistic-cultural Internet activities,
including Web sites, MUDs, MOOs, online games, etc.
The deadline for the entry is March 20, 2000
