From patrick.schouller@inria.fr Wed Mar 1 14:47 MET 2000 To: (Suppression de la liste des destinataires) From: Patrick SchoullerSubject: Appel d'offre communautaire de PROMETEUS Dear PROMETEUS partners, Dear Research project coordinators, Dear Multimedia Applications for Education and Training interest list members, The PROMETEUS Support Service Call for Tenders has been published on Thursday, 27 January 2000, in the EU Official Journal S. PROMETEUS Support Service, a part of the Information Society Technologies (IST) Programme, provides high-quality start-up support, facilitating the activities of the PROMETEUS Signatories, Steering Committee and Special Interest Groups in achieving the aims and objectives of the PROMETEUS Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) - PROmoting Multimedia access to Education and Training in EUropean Society. The PROMETEUS MoU continues to be open for signing and the PROMETEUS Special Interest Groups continue to be open for participants. Open Steering Committee elections are held for the Signatories. The PROMETEUS partnership initiative is to develop into a self-sustaining collaborative network during its start-up stage. This will then include the self-financing of beneficial support services. For the start-up support the European Commission is now launching a Call for Tenders for PROMETEUS Support Service for a 2-year period, expected to start in the summer of year 2000. The Support Service is to provide professional, results-oriented, innovative, flexible and energetic support for the creation and take-up of significant initial PROMETEUS partnership results. The PROMETEUS Support Service provider can be for example a distributed support network consortium or a single service provider. This Support Service belongs to the Multimedia Applications for Education and Training area of the IST Programme for Research, Technological Development and Demonstration. The collaborative PROMETEUS partnership efforts are widely in line with the initiative "eEurope - An Information Society for All", launched by the European Commission, especially with its first area of action: "European youth into the digital age: bring Internet and multimedia tools to schools and adapt education to the digital age".
